Q&A's

Common questions and answers:

1 – How many persons does the villa sleep?

The villa sleeps seven people with three double bedrooms. Two of the rooms have double beds whilst the third has three single beds. The villa has two shower rooms and bathrooms, one on each level of the villa. One of the living rooms has a double Futon Sofa bed so it is possible to sleep 9 (no more than 6 adults). Please get in touch if your party is over six people.

2 – How close is the nearest airport?

Nearest airport is Bergerac Airport being only 35 miles away. Bordeaux and Toulouse Airports are the next closest. Ryanair & Flybe both do cheap flights to Bergerac.

3 – How do I get from the airport to the villa?

You can hire a car. I’ve used Europcar and Avis and both relatively cheap for car rental.

A pick-up service can be provided by a local English lady living close by. Prices are much cheaper than a taxi.

Charges are: Bergerac – €65, Bordeaux – €155, Toulouse – €165

4 – Distance from ferry’s and Channel Tunnel?

Calais – 570 mile

Caen – 403 mile

St.Malo – 400 mile

5 – How many can fish from the garden?

There are two main fishing swims kept as natural as possible separated by the tree lined margin so ideally suited to two anglers. The swims are large so you can easily double up on each swim if needed to.

6 - Can you night fish?

Yes, night fishing is allowed and its an excellent time to fish for the carp. If night fishing you must bivvy up & sleep by your rods and not in the house.

7 – Is tackle hire available?

Yes, there are two complete sets(three rod) of quality carp tackle which can be rented.

Armalite or Daiwa infinity rods, bedchair, sleeping bag, bivvy, carp cradle, Fox euro pods.

Everything is here at the villa, just need to bring your own reels, buzzers, indicators and end tackle which can normally be carried as hand luggage. Tackle hire is £100 per week per set of tackle.

8 – Is fishing bait available?

Yes, Gary Bayes has formulated a boilie especially for the river which has caught loads of carp. The bait has a lovely smooth taste to it and is flavoured with classic Maple Cream. Bait needs to be ordered & paid for before arriving..will be there on your arrival.

Prices much cheaper than shop prices:

10kg 20mm Maple Cream boilies –  £60, tub of 20mm pop-ups £5, Matching dip £5(also makes the hook baits real hard)

Parti-blend(pigeon conditioner) £25 per 20kg sack which will be soaked ready for use.

Prepared maize £25 per 25 kilo..this is soaked two days before your arrival & boiled on the Saturday morning so its perfect for use.

Tiger Nuts - 10kg fully prepared tiger nuts ready for use £30

9 - Do I need a fishing licence?

The river is a public water and requires a licence to fish. These are cheap(32 euro’s) for a one week holiday permit which can be purchased on-line:
