Fishing

The River Lot is a pure fisherman’s paradise. It flows through some of the most scenic locations in South West France and is a big river totalling 480km in distance and on average 80-150m wide.

The villa is situated on the lower River Lot where the flow is more gentle and the river wider. The slow flow in this area makes it an ideal place for carp to thrive. They have been caught to over 60lb from this area and the carp are extremely nomadic making for very interesting and rewarding fishing. Catching a river carp is the pinnacle of many anglers ambitions and rightly so as they are totally wild creatures born and bred in the river.

The predator fishing on the river is also first class with Pike, Catfish, Zander, Perch and Black Bass all to be fished for right outside the Villa. A day spinning out on the boat drifting along the river is a wonderful way to spend a day.

Fishing for the monster Catfish can be fun too..the villa's garden has done them to a massive 220lb so some serious catfishing can be done for some out and out giants. The Zander go real big too with them being caught over 20lb!!

General coarse fishing is excellent with Chub, Barbel, Bream and Roach all falling to simple float fishing and feeder tactics. For the all round fisherman the River Lot is just paradise!!

The River is a public fishery so a licence must be obtained before fishing. These are very cheap and can be obtained easily online or locally at the local cafes. You can purchase holiday permits covering one or two weeks fishing.

Please remember you share the river with other users so please be polite to them at all times. River Cruisers, Canoeists are common place on the river so please be respectful to the other users.

If I am fishing during the day I will always use back leads to ensure a peaceful time. Late evening, throughout the night and early morning the angler has the river to himself; it’s a magical place to be fishing.

There are two main fishing swims in the garden and you can bivvy up next to the swims if night fishing. You cannot sleep in the house whilst night fishing & must sleep next to your rods.

Tackle Rental

If you are flying over or just want more room in the car I can rent out a full set of quality carp fishing gear. Only need to bring your own reels, buzzers and end terminal tackle.
